STANTHORPE & DISTRICT SPORTING CAR CLUB INC.

Carnell Raceway originally started in 1968 after land was given to them by the Stanthorpe Shire Council at Rifle Range Road. After the Death of Max Carnell, who was a keen motor sport competitor in the district it was decided to name the track after him.

First races were held in 1972 - dirt track of approximately 450 metres.  In mid 80's the track was extended to 850 metres, and in 1990 the main straight was bitumen for a 200 metre drag strip.  In 1992 the full track was bitumen.  The main straight is 11 metres wide to cater for drags with the balance of the track being approximately 6 metres wide.

The track caters for drag racing, touring car racing and bikes.  Track is available for hire.  For track hire contact Mick Irwin (07) 4681 2531.
