SHORT CIRCUIT MOTOR SPORT ASSN
PRESIDENT'S REPORT 2008

It is with pleasure that I submit to this Association my 5th President's report, briefly summarizing the activities of the Short Circuit Motor Sort Association throughout 2007.

First and foremost I wish to recognize the support, dedication and commitment of Fred Berge and Pat Murray for their ongoing service to this association, and personally I acknowledge their outstanding effort to ensure not only the smooth running of the association affairs, but the co-ordination and running of association events. ...Fred and Pat, our sincere thanks.

To all management committee and members who provided assistance throughout 2007, your efforts are recognized and sincerely appreciated. Despite our best efforts to co-ordinate events in 2007, our activities were confined to 2 events, both conducted in Stanthorpe, and both proved to be extremely successful.

The new format adopted over the past year, combining a sprint event with a short circuit touring car speed event, has proved to be overwhelmingly popular to our motor sporting membership.

Our first event this year received record numbers of entries and the second event capped at 130 entries, exceeded numbers at any event over many years. The association was unable to accept the volume of entries at our second event, and while this is regrettable, it is certainly a good problem to have.

I would like to acknowledge and congratulate the Stanthorpe Sporting District Car Club for their outstanding support of association's activities in 2007 and it has certainly been financially beneficial to both the association and the Stanthorpe Car Club, and we look forward to their ongoing support.

Again I wish to acknowledge the tremendous support of the Preston Peak Winery for their contribution in supporting our Association's events in 2007.

Clearly with the support of our new format, we have throughout the year explored many and varied options in an effort to increase the number of events run by the association. Our search continues for a second circuit which could viably assist our association with additional events. We will continue to endeavor to secure either additional events at the Stanthorpe circuit or the inclusion of a second viable circuit.

Financially, our association is now in a better position than it has been over many, many years, and now has a record number of financial members. Memberships continue to flow in, and this is a definite sign that we are moving in the right direction.

The 2007 Annual Presentation Dinner was very well attended and I applaud and congratulate all winners in every class and the Association's 2007 Series Champion, Noel Griffiths.

While we continue to face challenges in moving forward, in an ever increasing compliance driven sport, we as an association, will continue to improve and streamline its activities, and I am hopeful that 2008 will again, not only be a successful year, but a year of progress, a year of exciting and competitive events for all members of our association.

In conclusion, once again to all those who have supported us in 2007, I offer my heartfelt thanks.

It has once again been my honour to serve as your President, and I offer my sincere best wishes to the association, its management committee and members for a successful and exciting year of motor sport in 2008.

Yours faithfully
